The Outdoor Range

Temporary Closure of Outdoor Ranges

Members,

Your are all likely aware of the ongoing wildfire situation throughout the province. As of yesterday evening, restrictions were put in place targeting the use of all wooded areas (public and private). Please see the link to the official provincial restrictions:

All of the club external ranges are in such areas. The Department of Natural Resources and Renewables (DNRR) closed all public shooting ranges this afternoon and MODL announced the closure of all of the parks and trails within their control (which would include Indian Path Common). Fire crews are also stretched to the limit dealing with existing major fires.

Taking all of this into account, the club Executive have decided to temporarily close all external ranges at LRGC with immediate effect (100 yard range, sporting clay, skeet and trap fields). The indoor range/clubhouse will continue to be used for scheduled handgun and .22 rifle practices.

Although the provincial restrictions are in place until June 25th, the situation around us is rapidly evolving and a change in weather could drastically improve things. We will continuously monitor the local and provincial response to the wildfires, review this decision on a weekly basis going forward and inform you of any changes ASAP.

We appreciate your understanding in this matter. Any comments or questions to info@rodandgunclub.ca

On behalf of the LRGC Executive
